VOICES OF NORTHWOOD

CONCEPT

To auditorily represent the people, flora, and fauna of Northwood Village by creating 5 unique compositions that combine traditional song elements along with recorded "found" local sound from within Northwood. Examples: birds chirping, basketballs bouncing, tennis balls bounding, people talking, feet walking, train, train tracks, glasses clinking, bikes bells, etc. Incorporating these sounds into songs; ambient meditations, chill hip hop, dreamy blues, etc. The music will physically exist at two locations, Serenity Park and Blum Park, playing through custom built, weather resistant speakers.

Press Release: “Located in vibrant Northwood Village, Palm Beach County, this one-of-a-kind auditory art project celebrates the heartbeat of the local community through music and sound. Commissioned by the Northwood Village CRA in partnership with ArtLife WPB, this project invites visitors to experience Northwood like never before. Immerse yourself in five original musical compositions that blend elements of traditional song with local, "found" sounds recorded in Northwood itself. These include everyday sounds like birds chirping, basketballs bouncing, conversations, and train whistles—each one captured to reflect the unique rhythms of the village.

The compositions span a range of genres, from ambient meditations to chill hip-hop and dreamy blues, creating a harmonious blend of Northwood’s natural and urban environments. These soundscapes are crafted to engage both locals and visitors, providing a sonic journey that’s as relaxing as it is inspiring.

You can experience this auditory art at two locations: Serenity Park and Blum Park, where the music is broadcast through custom-built, weather-resistant speakers. These installations allow the sounds of Northwood Village to flow seamlessly into your surroundings, adding a soulful, immersive dimension to your visit.
